Jerome Seballos, program coordinator on anti-trafficking of Negros nine Human development foundation attended the National Conference on prosecution and Monitoring of Trafficking in person cases last October 19-20, 2011 at the Sulo Reviera hotel, Quezon City , organized by the Visayan Foundation, Inc. with support from the USAID.
A rescue operation was facilitated in Isabela, Negros Occidental. A17 year old girl was recruited to work as a househelper in Manila without the knowledge of her parents, she was sent by boat together with another recruit.
Her parents reported to our office thru the posters posted on her baranggay. We coordinated with the local Philippine national police and the department of social welfare and development office and made actions to contact the child. Luckily, she had a sister living in Manila rescuing her was easy to facilitate.
A local human trafficking crusader group is stepping-up its efforts to arrest the growing human trafficking problem in the country by recently launching hotline ‘1343 Actionline.’
The line can be accessed in Metro Manila and the provinces using first the area code, 034 in Negros Occ., then the number 1343.
"We want to send a strong message to criminal syndicates involved in human trafficking that they are watched and will be stopped and prosecuted," Secretary Imelda Nicolas of the Commission on Overseas Filipinos (CFO) said. She sits in the IACAT as Chairperson of Advocacy and Communications Committee.
The Columban Ministry on Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, Negros
Nine Human Development Foundation, Inc. (NNHDF, INC), together with the
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Moises Padilla, Negros
Occidental launched a symposium on Republic Act 9208 otherwise known as
Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 last August 24, 2010, at the New Farmers
Training Center, Moises Padilla.
The Negros Nine Human Development Foundation, Inc. (NNHDF) in coordination with
the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC), Columban Missionaries,
local government and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of the
Municipality of Candoni conducted a symposium on the “Hidden World of
Trafficking” September 2, 2009 at the SP Session Hall of Candoni.
Jerome E. Seballos, NNHDF Program Coordinator, discussed the trends, currents
and situationer of trafficking in the Negros Island.
The Anti-Human Trafficking of the Negros Nine Human Development Foundation,
Inc. sponsored a para legal training on Republic Act 9208 and other related laws
last January 27, 2010 at the San Columbano, Batang, Himamaylan City, Negros
Occidental.
Social workers from different local government units , womens’ and childrens’
desk of the Philippine National Police, ngo’s, social action center of the
Diocese of Kabankalan, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Visayan
Forum, Pilippine Anti-Child Trafficking and other stakeholders from southern
Negros attended the said seminar.
