Katilingban Holds General Assembly

The Katilingban sang mga Organikong Panguma held its General Assembly last August 29, 2009 at the Negros Nine Organic Farm at Sitio Bantolinao, Brgy. Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Fr. Brian Gore gave input on Climate Change. He emphasized the need to develop organic farming to the farmers instead of using oil-based fertilizers. He further stressed the importance of planting trees to save Mother Earth.

Officers presented their respective reports to give their members the comprehensive achievements of the cooperative.
During the assembly, members from different clusters elected their new set of officers . Vicvic Miranda, Brgy. Captain of Miranda, Tan-awan facilitated the election.

The newly elected officers are: Junior Felizardo, Chairperson; Salvador Tabugoc, Vice-Chairperson; Lucia Buko, Secretary, Maymay de la Serna, Treasurer; Lino Medes and Efren Medes, Auditor; Danilo Medes, PIO.
Ninety-two members attended the said assembly.

Exodus 84

This is about the Long March, or Exodus '84, to allow it a scriptural description, three days of torrid sun and long kilometers from Kabankalan to Bacolod , a distance of about ninety-five kilometers, or approximately sixty miles. I was there. A long line of marchers (numbering at the start more than 1500) carrying streamers and placards moved over a hot asphalt road like a colony of ants, twisting into curves, seemingly endless.
